Cooler lines leaking quick connects

You need a 1/4" male pipe thread by 3/8" hose barb to replace the quick disconnect fittings in the tranny. Then you can then run the hose straight out and snake them under the upper radiator hose to get to the front by the cooler. WebJun 26, 2002 · One of the transmission cooler lines on my 89 Cherokee has sprung a leak at the quick-connect (it's leaking from the middle of the connector, not out the end). Jeep wants way too much money for the whole line, so I plan to jerry rig it. My first thought is to just cut off the connector and use a hose clamp and shove it on the male end.

Snap the plastic cap onto the quick connect fitting. Ensure that the plastic cap is fully seated against the fitting. They may look fine but be very lose. If they are lose, you should really consider the bypass.
