Although you really shouldn't smell gasoline inside the vehicle the engine does run richer upon startup in the cold. Also many northern US regions switch to Winter fuels to help reduce emissions in cold dense ambient air which are innately more odorous. I live in a very hot and humid environment (Panama) and the odor(s) gets worst when the car is exposed to the sun. I have taken the car to the shop and changed the a/c filters twice with no improvement.
