Web21 feb. 2013 · Moly Coating (lead) cast bullets. Lately at my gun club we had a discussion whether or not it’s recommendable to moly coat lead cast bullets. I know that it is possible and that some of us do so. Currently I moly coat my jacketed bullets with great success/results but have zero experience with lead bullets. WebIt is a very thin oxide bullet coating, often compared to the bluing on a steel firearm. The bullet included a Lubalox coating, a proprietary oxide process. Though widely misreported to be Teflon, molybdenum disulfide, or wax, the ammo has an unusual black appearance compared to other copper-jacketed or lead bullets.
